THINK GLOBAL FLIGHT WINDS ALOFT CONTEST FORM
Here is your students’ opportunity to research, analyze, and forecast the WINDS ALOFT for two portions of the Think Global Flight (TGF) around the world flight of adventure! Weather conditions, air traffic control, and even fuel economy are considered when flying. It is important for students’ to forecast at the flight levels indicated for the route they have chosen because Captain Judy does not know exactly what flight level she will be flying.
REMINDER: Students’ should enter their WINDS ALOFT predictions in the following format:
First three digits are wind direction (090 is east, 180 is south, 270 is west, and 360 is north). The last two digits are wind speed in knots. Winds greater than 100 knots, use 99.
EXAMPLES: 05045 indicate a northeast wind at 45 knots
19030 indicates a south wind at 30 knots
We appreciate everyone's participation and the Winds Aloft Contest is no longer available.
